London Part II

Day 4:
My Aunty booked ice skating for me and my little cousins at Somerset House! I managed to last the whole 45 minutes without falling over, although I wouldn't say I was very graceful. Every year the enormous christmas tree next to the rink is decorated by a different designer and this years was done by the swanky London department store Fortnum and Mason. I felt like I was in Love Actually! That afternoon we wandered to Covent Garden and stumbled across the 'Bond in Motion' exhibition at the Museum of Film. We saw vehicles from almost all of the Bond films including my personal favourite, the Aston Martin DB5 from Skyfall. The Aston Martins from both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were almost completely destroyed. They were covered in bullet holes and had the windscreens smashed in and one was even missing a door! As an enormous Bond fan, this was one of my favourite things we did on our jaunt around London.

Day 5:
Our first very cold day in London, we rugged up and hopped on the bus to Kensington and Knightsbridge. We admired the beautiful christmas window displays in Harrods and popped in for some lunch at the Tom Dixon sandwich bar. I had my first Welsh Rarebit (not rabbit!) and it was deee-licious! We wandered around Harrod's gawking at the pricetags, I managed to find a 35000 pound television! Harvey Nichols had some dazzling christmas windows on display and Sophia Webster shoes scattered throughout the store. My mum had to drag me away!

Day 6:
Only the best shopping, on New Bond St of course! Cartier and Tiffany's looked exquisite. If we had been there 24 hours earlier we would have seen all the Victorias Secret models posing out the front of the store! The show was being filmed in London in Earls Court on the day that we went to the store. I especially loved all the costumes on display in the windows from previous shows. We finished off the day having a cocktail and the most incredible cheese board in my favourite building in the whole of London: St Pancras Hotel.

Part 3 coming soon!

London Part I

Well my time in London has officially come to an end and what an incredible 10 days it has been! As I write this, I am sitting on the train to Yorkshire gazing at the sun beating down on the picturesque scenery of rolling green hills, perfectly thatched roofs and fields of animals. I have loved London so much but can’t wait to get some open space! I want to tell you about everything I did in London but couldn’t possibly fit it in one post so I have decided to split it into 3 parts. Here is part 1.

Day 1:
The first day in London my grandma came down from Yorkshire to see us. We had a beautiful lunch at the British Museum with one of her friends and her daughter and visited the German Exhibiton. There were lots of fascinating artefacts some of them 600 years old! I found the war section especially fascinating. When we got back to our little hotel we discovered the common room and the resident cat lounging on the sofa. He was an enormous and very friendly tabby cat and would come and sit on your lap when you sat down.

Day 2:
Black Friday. I had never heard of Black Friday Sales before but before we knew it we found ourselves in the middle of Oxford St with half of London. We visited almost every shop on Oxford and Regent st: H & M, topshop, Desigual, John Lewis, Jack Wills and Tiffanys just to name a few! Burberry had the incredible tulle dress in the window from the Burberry with Love christmas film starring Romeo Backham. Tiffanys looked like a postcard with wreaths in every window and christmas trees by the door. Abercrombie and Fitch was as exciting as ever, with the gorgeous shirtless male model standing at the door to greet you and have a photograph with you. Inside the lights were low, the music thumping and the smell of their signature scent mesmerising.

Day 3:
One of my favourite days! We caught the tube to the Shard, but the tickets were sold out so we decided to wander across London bridge to the Tower of London. The views of Tower Bridge from London bridge were incredible! We then walked all the way from the Tower of London past St Pauls cathedral, big ben, houses of parliament and then to Westminster Abbey. The weather was so perfect, blue skies and the sun shining! After admiring the beautiful Abbey, we wandered down past Downing st and made it to Trafalgar Square for sunset. We finished off the day at Jamies Italian in Covent Garden with the Italian Nachos and pasta. Decadent!

Part 2 coming soon!
